Six in the City 5 - 1 Real Diggler

The Week after our first win our spirits were high. Sadly the result didn’t do justice to the effort and performance that the team put in.

We were missing two key players in our Goal keeping Goliath of Bob and the engine room that is Weasel (though I’m informed that they were out boozing it up! Well at least they’re following in the footsteps of professionals). We had the hired talents of James friend Toby up front who got our goal played very well so cheers for that Toby.

In the first half we had the majority of the possession and kept the pressure on the opposition bad sadly we couldn’t capitalise on it. Time after time our attack faulted and broke on the defence. On the plus side they were having similar problems against our defence with the Ben combo mopping up and redistributing most of the attacks. Unluckily we went a goal down early on though special mention should go to our stand in goalkeeper Mr Adam Whincup who put in a magnificent effort in goal and was rewarded with some super saves; he got better as his confidence grew. We did however miss his tenacious tackling in midfield.

Our forwards of James and Toby stuck to the game plan and got behind the oppositions defence time and time again forcing the opposing keeper in some brilliant save before Toby got our goal. There was some great interplay and Brazilian style passing between our front men and Chris who tirelessly patrolled the left flank breaking down the wing to create chances and support the front two.

Ben. H had another solid game being big, strong and rock like in the centre of defence. The main positive this week was his calmness on the ball which gave him time to pick his pass. Ben. F started in defence and then pushed up in the second half leaving the subs to fill in the defence gaps.

We were unlucky not to get a better result especially in front of our biggest crowd, 4 people!! The main problem was a lack of cohesion within the team the passes weren’t sticking and some of the decision making wasn’t great, this was throughout the team. It could have been because of tiredness or just that our confidence after last week had grown but we didn’t play as well as we did last week. There were some stand our performances such as James tracking back the length of the pitch to make an outstanding last ditch tackle to deny the opposition a shot on goal! Also, as I have already mention Mr Harris’s calm defending; finally Adam’s shouting was an aural delight.

One of the downsides was decision making last night. We seemed to play as a group of individuals rather than a team, on numerous people chose to take a man when an easier pass would have allowed them to get past their marker before receiving the ball back in the fashion of the old 1 2. But there you go, if we make the ball do the work then we don’t have to, of course I’m aware that we have only played as a team for a few months and it may take time but we need to be aware of our options. There was plenty of good movement through the team and people were getting into wonderful positions sadly we weren’t always using them which I think everyone got frustrated about and because of this the noise level (apart from Adam) dropped people weren’t speaking to each other or if they were people didn’t hear them, more chatter guys lets help each other out.

A note to Bob, Adam commented on how difficult it is to see people when performing a goal kick of throwing the ball out. Could we please have someone who comes short? Maybe something to think about.

Our First ever Win!!! Real Diggler 2 - 1 RTS Europe

I thought I should at leastmake a note of our first proper win. On a cold crappy night with sideways rain we came out on top. As a team it was one of the most cohesive performances we have had. We were strong at the back with support running through the team with everyone doing there bit to defend.

We were under the cosh to start with and it seemed we were goimg to have a rough night with wave after wave of attack coming at us. Bob's decision to shoo me and Chris away so that we didn't disract him was a good call, fully concentrating Bob is a top keeper making plenty of key stops and denying the oposision (?). Slowly we worked our way back into the game with Weasel and James tearing apart the other teams slower defence Before Ben. H struck a screamer which the keeper had no chance. Ater that we began to play with some swagger moving the ball around niceley and keep the pressure on untill half time.

I must say that the Ben combo at the back is proving to be the bed rock of our team and providing the solid defense allowing us to go forward with confidence. I have to say thank you to Ben. H for porviding cover when I personally went forward because I haven't got the pace to get back, I know that Ben. h will close down the the man on the ball and I can run past and try and pick up the runner. There were moments when we as a team should have been tighter on the men we were marking but then we were getting tired. Floyd pushes up in support of the front to giving us a 2-2-1 formation when going forward while sloting back into the defence when defending making him a floater.

In the Second half the roll on roll tinity of Adam (the Father) Chris (The Son, he looks like Jesus) and Paul (Holly Toast) seemed to work well allowing us to bust our guts for the amount of time we were on the pitch then hand over just as the red spots and pins and needles set in and before I threw up pass the batton. All three of us stuck to our tasks which are made easier by having the Ben combo behind us allowing Adam to get stuck in and even have shot on goal! Chris was able to push up in support on the front two with insisive passing across the goal. I was able to run up and down the side of the pitch shouting and waving my arms.

In the Second half we conceded a goal through a lack of concentration. But we picked ourselfs up and got stuck in. We were reward with a Goal from James who broke his duck last week with a brace and has continued on his run with 3 goals in 2 games!! keep it up dude!

The main thrust of the piece is we won, yes it was scrappy in places and we got a bit of Luck but otherwise a good solid performance from everyone. lets keep it up and try to encourage each other no matter what mistakes we make because we're all human and this is a laugh, besides we're not Mr Whale!!

Fo Shizzle.

Accutek vs Real Diggler

Ok guys, hope everyone had a good christmas and is all rested up. My cuts have all healed which is a good thing.
We had some great performances before the break and need to build on it.
The team will be
Bob
Ben F Ben H
Adam
James Weasel

While we have lost our main striker in Neil we have a good front pairing full of pace to worry the defence.
Adam keep doing what you did in the last game and just battle hard. Ben and Ben carry on from where you were last time. Making the strong tackles but also getting forward as often as possible but looking out for each other so we arent caught short.
Paul, Ed and Chris will be there to cover when people get tired. Ed and Chris look to replace any of the back 3 when they need it and Paul be looking to take over from James or Weasel to give them a rest.
Kick off is at 8:50 so aim to be there for 8:30.
Go Balls Deep
Bob
