3rd game into this very tough league and we're begining to see why it's the premier division.
We gave a very brave performance on a cold, wet and miserable evening even though we were not at 100% (With Ed and Ben.H out due to flu and colds and our drfensive Viking Kier stuck with work commitments) the odds were stacked against us a game we had every chance of getting a result out of!
We Started brightly by getting an early goal curtesey of Ben.F whose shot was too hot to handle and the oposition goalie spilled through his own legs! after that the team pushed forward with the fast fluid interplay in midfield between Weasel, Ben.F and Chris culminating in a couple of half chances for Chris and Neil.
After that the oposition started to press us back and the defensive team of Bob, Adam and Ben.F kicked in to gear with yet another dogged performance against a team who just about had the legs on us sadly they went 2 up although Bob made some fantastic saves proving that Pompey do have somthing to offer now Harry's gone. LOL.
Just before half time we got a goal back! (the website says Neil but I was sure that it was Weasel, Please correct me if I am wrong)
James was brought on to replace Chris at LMF so he could drink tea with Adam. James dipped into his box of tricks to beat men and cause a nuicence of himself while Paul replaced Adam for a few mins to let him catch his breath.
After half Time a change up front meant that Paul was given a go at worring the oposition defence and apart from making people follow him and mark him didn't actually do much. (Commnents please)
The second half was a battle Weasel our midfield engine was struggling with a cold and was finding it difficult to breath and was replaced by Ben.F eventually. Bob kept the oposition at bay with some wonderful 1 on 1 saves and Adam showed himself to be a braveheart by sliding into the oposition and disrupting them! after a couple of half chances from James and Paul (I hit Ben.F sqaure on the back, sorry dude)the match was about to wind down when the oposition got a corner which was well defended, Paul was REALESED!!! and steaked off with the ball (It felt like I was runnig fast) only to be let down by a poor first touch and a very good interception from a suprisingly fast old fella.
Gents We need to work on our movment off the ball and making space for ourselves as well as looking before we pass, if we do this we should be able to control the pace and play our own game.
Well done another improvement and we can only get better hold your heads up high we're not last! you all deserve a pat on the bottom for your determination!!
